Thursday 13 #7: My Favorite Street
I cannot deny that this has helped shape and influence me. People of certain generation and age can attest to this. Swiftly, strangers may regard one another as friends, friends may find their friendship growing deeper (due to the time factor?) all because of this shared love.
Of course I am talking about Sesame Street.
I grew up watching Cookie Monster's cookie fixation, Big Bird and his imaginary friend Mr. Snuffy, Grover talking about near and far, Luis and Maria plus David, Gordon, Olivia and Bob, Count von Count busy...well...counting.
Come with me down memory lane and let me share with you some of my favorite Sesame Street moments:
The opening song:
Somebody come and play:
Grover's G:
Bert's Pigeons:
1 to 12 Pinball Countdown
The Yip Yip's first time to see a phone:
Two girls and a little doll house:
The baker who always fall with his pies:
The Alligator King and his 7 sons:
the lyrics:
His first son brought seven oyster pearls
From the bottom of the China Sea.
The second gave him seven statues of girls
With clocks where their stomachs should be.
The third son gave him seven rubies
From the sheikdom Down There Beneath.
The King thought the rubies were cherries,
And he broke off seven of his teeth.
The fourth son tried to cheer him up
With seven lemon drops.
The King said, "I'm sorry son,Since that ruby episode,
I just haven't got the chops.
The fifth son brought the King perfume
In seven fancy silver jars;
The King took a whiff, and he broke out in spots
'Cause it smelled like cheap cigars.
The sixth son gave him seven diamond rings
To wear upon his toes.
The King snagged his foot on the royal red rug
And crumpled up his nose.
The seventh son of the Alligator King
Was a thoughtful little whelp.
He said, "Daddy, appears to me. That you could use a little help."
Said the Alligator King to his seventh son,
"My son, you win the crown. You didn't bring me diamonds or rubies,
butYou helped me up when I was down.
Take the crown; it's yours, my son.
I hope you don't mind the dents.I got it on sale at a discount store-
Cost me all of seven cents!"
Seven!
A loaf of bread...
The ladybugs' picnic:
The Mad Painter:
How Crayons are made:
..And the classic "I'm Gonna Miss you Mr. Hooper"

Sigh. I'm with you. I love Sesame Street too.
My mom was a seventeen year old, young mother from Thailand, who married my Air Force dad, and did not know any English.
She and I (as a baby) watched Sesame Street and learned how to speak English together. ;)

C is for Cookie. You forgot Cookie Monster!
I too love the muppets and the street.
Wow...thanks for the memories:) Happy TT.
So fun. I wish my daughter liked SS as much as I do.
And of course, who would ever forget its Pinoy counterpart of Batibot with Kiko Matsing and Pong Pagong.
Ah kids.
My favorite is the pinball counting. Happy TT.
I was four years old when Sesame Street debuted. The perfect age! I grew up with Sesame Street and it was so wonderful back then. Personally, my kids haven't watched it that much and now that Elmo's World takes up a hunk at the end, I really don't like it.
I didn't have to open any of the youtube videos to sing along -- they are already in my head.
Still when I give my husband a list for the grocery store, I conclude with a loaf of bread, a container of milk and a stick of butter. LOL!
Thanks for visiting my site, btw!
Now I have Sesame Street songs in my head all day. Very fun. Happy TT
Sesame street has been around for a long long time.........what one guy did with an old green felt coat...it is not easy being green. I remember when the Muppet show was on prime time TV.
Would it scare you to know I still remembered all the words to the ladybug picnic and the pinball countdown? lol. Saying goodbye to Mr. Hooper still makes me cry and the first time seeing the phone one makes me crack up! I love this list.
Honestly I was a Captain Kangaroo gal myself and didn't watch Sesame Street, and my children never really did either, though they did get hooked on that Elmo dude.
Happy TT, hope you'll visit my 32nd TT...Housework, Quoth the Mama, Nevermore at The Cafe.
I love this T13. I loved Bert's pigeon.
