Morning Habit - Calamansi

Friday, March 11, 2011
I have been doing this "morning habit" for more than a week now and I am already getting the hang of it.

I have been hearing about it since I was young, though there are various versions - the weirdest is to put the calamansi over the fire before squeezing the juice out and drinking it plain. Bo Sanchez's version is:

1. Take it first thing, on an empty stomach.
2. Take it pure. No water, no sugar. Putting water or sugar will just make it and the drinker acidic.
3. Take it green. Not the ripe ones. So it's best to buy calamansi every 2 days or so, not for a week's consumption.
4. Don't take anything else for an hour. Have your breakfast after the one hour period.

Here are some helpful tips in taking this morning habit:

1. Get 28 green calamansi. Wash the calamansi thoroughly. Organic is best.
2. Slice the calamansi at the side, not at the middle. Slicing so prevents the seeds from being sliced too. Otherwise, the juice will take a bitter taste.
3. Squeeze the juice out with the seed. Don't use a strainer since you need to get also the pulp from the seeds.
4. Using a fork, mix the calamansi juice and the seeds as if you are beating an egg.
5. Scoop up the seeds using the fork, gliding them out of the glass.
6. Drink your pure calamansi extract.

Don't drink 28 calamansi in one go, on day 1. Start with 4 calamansi on Day 1, 8 on Day 2, and so on, until you drink 28 calamansi on Day 7.

No obvious result will be felt immediately. But rest assured that it is already doing wonders in your body on Day 1, making your immune system strong. It builds up your body to fight diseases and alkalinizes your body as well. Since cancer cells and germs thrive in an acidic body, they will not feel welcome in an alkaline system.
It might take time but today is a good time to start.
