Just thinking about her and her story still makes me cry. Agnes Ignacio is a piano teacher from Romblon. Hers can be the usual story of a life lived in solitude but what made it more heart-thugging is she is also sick with 4th stage breast cancer, with metastasis on the 3rd lumbar.
According to her, four years ago her parents were still alive and life was happy. But when they died, she started to live alone, her siblings left her and her husband whom she is about to spend almost 25 years of marriage left her. The reason: they don't want to burden themselves with her sickness. In short, they abandoned her and left her alone. She earns from teaching piano to the students of Romblon who would pay her P150 per lesson or sometimes nothing at all. When Kris Aquino, one of the hosts, asked her why she joined Pilipinas Got Talent, she silently replied that she wanted to visit her doctor again and she wanted to buy a new piano so she can teach her students better. But she said this without any intention of eliciting pity nor sympathy, which made me feel sorry for her more. I know how it feels to appear fine inspite of a nagging pain inside.
Kris Aquino told her she will give her a grand piano (very nice of her). She probably thought that Agnes doesn't have a fair chance of making it to the finals so she might as well get her prize now.
I will pray for Agnes. May she be healed of cancer and may she find joy and peace in her heart inspite of the abandonment she got from the people who are supposed to take care of her and love her especially in this moment in her life. She is a very positive person, and may she continue playing beautiful piano pieces.
