Letting go and letting God

Tuesday, April 5, 2011
As kids, we must have all tried playing with sand and tried to pick up a handful. And we realize that no matter how hard we try to hang on to it - it just sifts through our fingers until only a few grains of sand are left. The saying "If you love something, set it free" is so cliche but there is some truth to it. Because what we want in life - our goals and dreams, happen the same way the sand does...

The tighter we hold on to them and the more anxious we get about the outcome - the more they just seem to slip away from us.

But with a calm steady hand, we could easily hold the sand all day long.

It seems counterintuitive.

But we often see people spending far too much time worrying and feeling anxious about wanting or desiring something. Most specifically when it comes to our prosperity, finances and relationships.

But why is it that the more we focus on something as the be all and end all - the more elusive it becomes?

But when we focus on the foundation of our desires and goals - like happiness, well-being, joy, peace of mind, etc.  - and what you can positively do with the prosperity in our life, something good and positive happens. We start making things happen  - almost like we've magnetized everything we want and it can no longer resist us.

When I realized this, I just tell God all my heart's desires but at the end, I let go of these desires and just trust Him that in His goodness, he will give the best for me. His will be done.

  1. Hi Arlene, this is hard to do sometimes but once I let go I'm completely at peace.
