Financial Freedom 101: Opening Ourselves to More Blessings

Monday, July 18, 2011
We have been made to believe that it is "better to give than to receive".  But what we don't know is that the original passage actually says: "it's better to be in the position to be able to give than to be in a position to have to receive."

Makes a whole lot of difference, right?

Besides, how can we be possibly in the position to give if there wasn't anyone around to receive? For every act of giving, there must be an act of receiving. They are of equal importance.

It is nice to ponder on how it feels to give something to someone who is grateful and willing to receive. But also think about how it feels when someone rejects our gift.

If we are not willing to receive, we are denying the giver the joy and pleasure that comes from giving.

What's worse, we are training the Universe to give its abundance to someone else. The wealth of the Universe has to go somewhere. Why not to us?

Many poor people actually believe that they are better people because they are poor. This is something I have actually believed in before because of my conditioning. For me before, poor = humility. Poor = meekness. Poor = good.

But come to think of it, isn't it better to be well-off so we can help others from a place of more instead of a place of wanting? Besides, we should believe that money will only make us more of what we already are. If we are kind persons, money will only give us the opportunity to be kinder.

The bottom line is: open up to abundance. And once we do that, we will not only start receiving more money, but we will also receive more love, more peace, more happiness and more fulfillment.

And needless to say, once we start receiving, make sure we say "Thank you" every time a blessing comes us. Gratitude is essential to keep the flow of blessings coming.

And it will also worth doing that each time someone gives us a complement of any sort, simply say "Thank you." We don't have to return the complement to that person at the same time. This lets us practice being an excellent receiver. We are allowing ourselves to fully receive and own the compliment instead of "deflecting" it, or throwing it back as most people do.

Financial blessing we find or receive should also enthusiastically be celebrated.  This is true even for money we find on the ground, for money we get as gifts, for money we get as a paycheck, and for money we get from our business. I used to ignore those centavos i find on the ground but now I am picking them up because I look at them as representatives of the financial blessings I attract.

Another nice way to be a good receiver is to start nurturing ourselves. At least once a month, do something to nurture ourself and our spirit. Get a massage, a manicure, a pedicure or take yourself for an out-of-the-ordinary meal. Do something that will allow you to feel rich and deserving. Because we really deserve to be blessed.
